What shapes the paths we take – the ones we choose and the ones we don’t?
For Kamylla Caponi, it is her own personal experience of career (and life) transition that has led to the work she does today, supporting leaders to navigate the complex transitions they face.
She was first drawn to Telos Partners in 2016 because we offered ‘a unique opportunity to leave behind a more traditional corporate path and engage in meaningful work that supports leaders through change’, she says.
Since then, she has progressed from Pathfinder to becoming a member of our senior team.
Here, she draws on her experience of supporting leadership teams to attain and sustain success. She has also led on the development and delivery of a range of career transition engagements – her specialist area at Telos Partners today.
‘What excites me most about our business is the impact we make,’ she explains.
‘Telos Partners’ approach to leadership remains deeply human, values-driven and responsive to the changing world.’
Understanding the ‘dance’ of career transition
'My first job was at 14, selling cosmetics door to door in a small village in Brazil – a humble beginning'
So what of Kamylla’s own career path and its impact on her work? Her journey before joining Telos Partners was ‘anything but linear’, she says.
‘My first job was at the age of 14, selling cosmetics door to door in a small village in Brazil – a humble beginning that taught me the art of conversation and the courage to knock on opportunity’s door.’
Her interest in psychology peaked right after that, driven by curiosity about why her peers in secondary school in Brazil, with the same education and support, achieved different grades.
This led her to train and briefly practice as a Clinical Psychologist.
However, she soon found herself drawn to the business side of psychology. She went on to train and work as a Business Partner in corporate settings in South America for around five years, focusing on leadership development and organisational growth.
‘I had the privilege to be part of the Coca-Cola Group in Brazil and really understand what humble leadership is all about,’ she recalls.
‘Later, I broadened my horizons through roles in international partnerships at the University of Westminster, and in client relations within a law firm in London.
‘Each chapter added a new layer to my understanding of people, systems and the delicate dance of transition.’
Creating a safe space for reflection and growth

These experiences have laid a rich foundation for Kamylla’s work with Telos Partners, where she enjoys supporting clients as they navigate change with clarity on their thoughts, emotions and behaviours.
‘Having gone through several career transitions myself – from clinical to business psychology, from corporate to consulting, being an expatriate in the UK – I deeply understand the emotional and strategic layers of change.
‘And let’s not forget becoming a mother,’ she adds.
‘These lived experiences allow me to empathise with clients, ask the right questions and create a safe space for reflection and growth.
‘In working with leadership teams, my approach is grounded in the understanding that enhancing performance under pressure is key for them to be successful in the long term.
‘By leveraging psychological principles, I facilitate a collaborative environment that helps team members feel safe and makes them more likely to be open to developing problem-solving skills for navigating complex situations effectively.’
Unlocking clarity, confidence and sustainable success

It sounds as though she has indeed found a strong sense of purpose supporting others with career transitions and career change.
Kamylla agrees, explaining that many of Telos Partners’ clients are navigating complex transitions – whether stepping into new leadership roles, restructuring teams or redefining their organisational purpose.
‘The challenges often involve uncertainty, identity shifts and strategic alignment,’ she says.
‘I help them to unlock clarity, confidence and sustainable success by guiding them through these transitions with tailored support and deep listening.
‘My biggest learning is that the clients are their best experts. They are resourceful and have all the answers to create their paths.’
Adapting to the impact of AI
'I help clients explore how AI intersects with their purpose and strengths, and how they can adapt or pivot meaningfully'
Today, many of those paths are inevitably being shaped by the impact of AI.
‘AI is increasingly a catalyst for career change,’ Kamylla agrees. ‘It’s reshaping industries and roles, prompting leaders to rethink their value, skills and future direction.
‘For some, it’s a driver of innovation and opportunity – for others, it brings disruption and uncertainty.
‘I help clients explore how AI intersects with their purpose and strengths, and how they can adapt or pivot meaningfully.’
This sounds like fulfilling work. It is, Kamylla confirms.
‘Career transitions are pivotal moments, and being able to support someone in rediscovering their confidence, purpose and direction is incredibly rewarding.’
Taking time out to recharge and reflect

‘Empathetic’, ‘transformational’ and ‘purposeful’ are the words she chooses to describe being part of our Telos Partners team.
But, like all of us, Kamylla also makes the most of her time away from Telos to relax and regain the energy she needs to effectively support others through change.
‘Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my other half and four-year-old daughter in nature,’ she reveals.
‘I also do yoga to bring me back to being grounded, reading light-hearted books (these days) and engaging in creative activities that help me recharge and reflect.’
